St. Matthew’s Cathedral Music

The Choir of St. Matthew’s Cathedral

The Choir of St. Matthew’s Cathedral is a highly trained choir that sings at 9:00 a.m. Sunday Eucharist, diocesan liturgies, an annual memorial concert, and the Festival of Lessons and Carols. The Cathedral Choir rehearses weekly on Sundays, 10:45 am – 12:30 pm. There are occasional midweek rehearsals when preparing for special events.

The Choir of St. Matthew’s Cathedral welcomes new singers to audition at any time of the year. If you read music, have experience singing in a choir, and want to know more about joining the Cathedral Choir, please email Keith Franks.

St. Matthew’s Cathedral Arts

Founded in 2011 as a center for arts, learning, and community building at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Cathedral, Cathedral Arts has built an enduring link to Dallas’ professional arts community. In honor of her son, the Justus Sundermann Gallery, a gift of Sally Sundermann, hosts frequent public exhibits, lectures, concerts, and receptions. A major capital campaign has provided a superb concert grand piano in the Great Hall to support fine musical offerings. A professional chamber chorus, the Cathedral Arts Choral Artists, can be heard during a season of third Sunday Evensong services. Cathedral Arts resides at St. Matthew’s as a self-supporting initiative, financially independent of the Cathedral and the Episcopal Diocese. Individual donors sustain Cathedral Arts through the annual Pillars Campaign, North Texas Giving Day, and the annual Gala and Silent Auction. In keeping with its mission, virtually every Cathedral Arts event is open to the public at no charge. For more information and ways to participate in the growth of St. Matthew’s Cathedral Arts, visit us online at cathedralartsdallas.org.

Justus Sundermann Gallery

With new exhibits regularly, the Justus Sundermann Gallery is a perfect venue for local artists and a treasure for Cathedral regulars. Each exhibit includes an Artist Reception that brings new faces to our campus.  The sale of the artwork benefits St. Matthew’s Cathedral Arts. The Justus Sundermann Gallery is open on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and by appointment. Go to the Cathedral Arts Website for more information.

Recent exhibitions include:

    • Sanctuary – Works of Gary & Lashonda Cooks (January 2022)
