First Informed Communion

We love watching our children grow. As parents, we track and celebrate the milestones: first words, first teeth, first steps. The Church has milestones as well, centered around the Sacraments. We acknowledge and honor our children as a part of Christ’s Body through the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Our goal is to encourage children and parents to keep growing in His knowledge and love forever.

To prepare children for their First Informed Communion (as well as for all parents and kids who want to deepen their understanding of the Sacrament), we gather for a parent-child workshop focused on the Eucharist. Our time together includes:

  • Two Godly Play stories.
  • Worshiping together at one of our services.
  • Sharing a simple meal to foster fellowship.
  • Liturgical instruction.

You will also receive a packet of home family activities. We believe continuing the conversation is the best way to foster family relationships about the sacraments. Parents are the first and most important influence on our children’s faith formation. When parents and kids grow together, learning lasts a lifetime!

Don’t hesitate to email the Director for Family Ministries for more information about First Informed Communion.
